single vineyard wine
The location, the soil, the microclimate: these are the factors – or ‘terroir’ – that give a wine its typical attributes, its personality.
In Castell there are seven vineyards lying almost side by side, yet each has its own distinctive terroir. Wines from Kugelspiel have a bouquet of gooseberries, Traminer grapes from Trautberg the fragrance of roses, while Riesling wines from Hohnart exude the tang of grapefruit. All of them are influenced by the soil: some are earthy, some are malty, but each has its own individual character.
Edition Graf Ferdinand
The ‘Edition Graf Ferdinand’ mingles the terroir of the single-vineyards with the elegant fruit of the varieties. The contemporary wine character – vibrant and creamy – is also echoed in the sophisticated individual features.
